Christmas Day. According to media reports, the official death toll so far
has been estimated to be around 12,000, while nearly 1.5 million persons
have been displaced from their homes.
A meeting was held with the members of the community at the

a decision was taken to establish "Sri Lanka Disaster Relief Fund" to
raise monetary contributions and channel same through the Dharmavijaya
Foundation ( a Registered Charity incorporated by Special Act of
Parliament in 1979) of Colombo, Sri Lanka, to meet the emergency needs of
food, water and medicine of the survivors who have no means of subsistence
at the present time.

REBUILDING SRI LANKA . ONE HOUSE AT A TIME
After the Tsunami .....
Sri Lanka.s Tsunami Victims need to get back to normal life:
The Tsunami affected millions of Sri Lankans, wrecking normal life as
they knew it. With the intensity of grief and trauma thinning out with
time, the victims desperately need to move on with their lives.
This is the focus of Rebuilding Sri Lanka, a US registered charitable
organization (a 501(c)(3) Charity), which aims to build 600 houses for
Tsunami victims in the south and the east of Sri Lanka. According to
Dr.Ajith Silva, President of Rebuilding Sri Lanka, their collaborator
in Sri Lanka, Help Sri Lanka Consortium, has already identified
locations to begin the project in the south and the east. This is a
Tax Exempt Charity (Federal Tax Exempt Number: EIN 1666174). For more
